Many gun-control groups argue that those with concealed carry permits are just looking for an opportunity to shoot someone while looking like heroes, but a recent event clearly contradicts that belief. Just last week a concealed handgun permit holder came to the rescue of a young woman without firing a single shot.
The young woman, whose identity is being safeguarded, was on her way home when a man forced her into a vacant home, beat her, ripped off her clothes, and attempted to rape her. The woman was able to escape and screamed for help, which is when her knight-in-shining-armor sprang into action. The permit holder, who lives nearby, ordered the attacker out of the vacant home at gunpoint, and when the suspect attempted to escape, the permit holder and another bystander chased the suspect and held him until police arrived.
Depending on the state you live in, this might or might not be justified, but I think we can all agree that the law-abiding gun owner acted with great restraint. Please remember that each state will have a different stance on the use of deadly force, and that you have to be willing to live with the consequences of your actions. Like I often tell my students, ‘Whether you’re hailed a hero or prosecuted for a crime, they are your consequences to live with; so be willing to live with them’.
